In anticipation of the arrival of her first grandchild, Dana got to planning. We already know she thinks big. And she came to me with a task. I want a baby quilt that is gender neutral. And I’m hoping this isn’t my only grandchild, so I want you to design it in a way that we can feed off of the design and create continuity between gifts if their should be a future grandchild.

She liked the Fragment Quilt style and we sought out to find the perfect thematic fabric. We found it in the Rifle Paper Co. Menagerie fabric that features monkeys, tigers, leopards and parrots.

Dana keenly requested quilting on only the solid background so that the fragment pieces would pop. The final quilt has been gifted to her grandbaby. And we’re both still hoping for more opportunities to make quilts together with the extra Menagerie I’m holding onto for her.
